Adrian is a consultant with over 15 years’ experience in embedded and server-side software. He has designed and implemented systems ranging from firmware on embedded video players to web management interfaces for device networks.
He wrote his first operating system while at Oxford, studying for his degree in engineering and computing, and then started work on a PhD in computer vision. It was at this time that he realised academia wasn’t for him, so he suspended his studies to work for Transtech Parallel Systems.
During a period of freelance employment, Adrian worked on a broad range of projects, including drivers for 3G modems, Linux support for custom board designs and a satellite news delivery system. After forming Humboldt Solutions, the range of projects has increased further.
He enjoys the challenge of understanding the goals of each project and solving problems to help clients create successful products. He’s always looking for new ideas and technologies, and as a very hands-on MD, he’s intimately involved in each of Humboldt Solutions’ projects.
Over the last few years he has concentrated on growing Humboldt Solutions and hiring staff to expand the company’s in-house talent pool.
Back in the days before he was a dad, Adrian was one of the founders of the Caption Comics festival in Oxford, which is still going strong. Now, his children keep him busy outside of work, but he still finds time to enjoy himself in the kitchen. He claims to have been baking pies long before Bake Off made it trendy – and reckons his beef and mushroom pie is unbeatable.
